8 foods that may harm our kidneys
The function of the kidneys is to remove toxic waste materials from the body. The kidneys filter up to 200 liters of blood per day and remove 2 liters of waste materials. Here are 8 types of foods that may harm the kidneys.
1.Red meat: raw and improperly cooked meat is high with proteins that put extra pressure on the kidneys. Therefore, it is recommended to cook meat properly before consumption.
2.Salt: salt gets rid of useful nutrients from the body and may harm the kidneys. 1 teaspoon of salt per day is the recommended amount for intake.
3.Caffeine: as important as coffee and tea are to our body, we must only consume two glasses of them per day as more than that amount would put a strain on the kidneys.
4.Dairy products: dairy products such as yoghurt, cheese, milk and butter are rich in proteins that are difficult to digest and cause a strain on the kidneys.
5.Processed foods: processed and packaged foods are laced with preservative chemicals that damage the kidneys.
6.Soft drinks: soft drinks contain high calorie, too much sugar and artificial sweeteners. It is best to not consume any soft drinks as they have no nutritional value.
8.GMO: genetically modified products cause damage to the kidneys and it is recommended to purchase groceries wisely.
