The most widely consumed hot beverage in the world is coffee. Brazil, veitnam and Columbia are know for producing coffee in abundance. Ethiopia holds 3rd place in high coffee production in africa. 

Many people in Ethiopia can’t go a day without a cup of coffee. Which is why you will be happy to hear that recent scientific findings are associating coffee with longer life and less proneness to cancer and other chronic diseases like kidney and liver diseases. 

Over 400 billions cups of coffee is consumed by the world population every year. Although, coffee had various health benefits, it also comes with a few drawbacks. 

Coffee and diabetes 

Coffee is helpful in preventing diabetes. In a study conducted in Harvard university college of public health, it was concluded drinking more coffee can help prevent type 2 diabetes. In this study, scientists assessed the coffee consumption of people with and without type 2 diabetes. The assessment showed people who had more than one cup of coffee a day were 11% less likely to be type 2 diabetic. 

Coffee and neuro disease 

Scientists in United state of America, have studied the effect of coffee and nerve related diseases. And they have reported drinking coffee can prevent nerve related diseases. In addition, a study conducted in Mat Gale health center research institute has discovered that the famous chemical found in coffee, caffeine, helps people suffering from nerve disease move.

Coffee and liver cancer

Researchers in Italy are saying consuming coffee reduces the chance of acquiring liver cancer by 40%. Even further, the researchers are reporting drinking 3 cups of coffee reduces your chance by 50%. The lead researcher Dr Carlo Lavecha, said the research has confirmed the previously claimed benefits of coffee for human health especially liver. 

Coffee and cardiac health 

Jewish scientists and Harvard university public health department have identified drinking adequate amount of coffee can prevent heart diseases.

Disadvantages of coffee

Health professionals say drinking too much coffee can also cause health problems. Researchers in Oklahoma university reported, coffee can cause emotional disturbance in people with stress problems. In addition, because coffee can cause emotional changes, it may be a cause for depression. 

Women trying to have a baby should also be cautious of their coffee consumption. Because, Research conducted in Nevada health university revealed drinking coffee can reduce fertility.
