Youth is the age that is much loved for in youth, there is infinite beauty and energy. Youth is the time for passion and style. On the other hand, we despise old age. We become stressed when we notice that time is passing us by. Sometimes some of us appear much older than our actual age and it could be quite irritating. Scientists claim that the cause for people to age quickly is the type of foods they consume. So what are the types of foods that make us look old?

  • Sugar: the sweetness of sugar tempts us to consume large amounts of it in different ways. Consuming too much sugar is proven to be very unhealthy and causes obesity. In addition to this, sugar can make lines appear on our skin therefore making us older than we actually are.
  • Doughnuts: doughnuts are easily found in cafes and fast food places and are consumed by many for breakfast. Doughnuts, pastinis and others are high in calorie but have no nutritional value. These foods limit the flow of blood on our skin and make us age faster.
  • Alcohol: proper intake of alcohol is not bad for our health but drinking too much alcohol not only has many negative effects on our health but also makes us age faster. The toxic ingredients in alcohol directly affect the liver and the malfunction of the liver can be directly seen on the skin.
  • Lack of healthy fats: healthy fats are fats derived from fruits and vegetables like avocadoes, salmon, peanuts and coconut oil and if our bodies lack them, it makes us look old.
  • Salt: too much salt consumption creates dark circles around our eyes and therefore makes us appear much older. It is recommended that we only use little amounts of sugar in our meals.
  • Meat: meat is a favorite food type for many but the salt contained in the meat makes lines appear on the skin. It is best not to consume meat too often and it should be prepared with vegetables. But if you cannot go a day without meat, it is advised that you use chicken meat which is relatively healthier.
  • Overcooked meat: overcooked meat contains hydrocarbons that can easily react and harms the collagen on the cells. So it is best to never consume overcooked meat.
  • Boiled potato:  boiled potato is usually prepared with high amounts of salt and oil so it is best not to consume it frequently. It is recommended that we prepare it with vegetables that are actually good for the health of our skin.
  • Coffee: coffee is quite the habit in Ethiopia; we consume it daily. However, coffee makes us age faster as it dries our skin.
  • Spices: certain spices like pepper can make lines appear on our skin if they are consumed in large amounts. So it is best to stop or else limit our consumption.
