Must know: Early symptoms of breast cancer The abnormal multiplication of cells within the body is known as cancer. Breast cancer mostly affects women but men may also be vulnerable to this disease. Tumors in the breast are usually visible through x-ray; they can also be felt by hand. However, not all tumors or abnormal growths turn are cancerous as they may turn out to be dormant. It is recommended to consult a physician once these signs appear and must never be ignored. There are a few types of breast cancer. The most common ones are Ductal carcinoma and Invasive carcinoma. There are also Phyllodes and Angiosarcoma but they are not typical. Since Mammograms may not always show signs of breast cancer, it is best to know other signs to prevent and treat the cancer at an early stage. The most common sign of breast cancer is newly formed painless rash or swelling on the breast. Sometimes and occasionally painful lumps can also be indicators of cancer. Consult a doctor immediately upon observing such signs. 1. partial or complete change of size of breast 2. dimpling of the skin on the breast 3. pain on breast and on nipple 4. nipple retraction or nipple inversion 5. nipple turns red and darkens 6. discharge of fluid other than milk from the nipple 7. Prominent veins on the breast Even though a few of these signs may occur because of reasons other than cancer, it is best to consult the doctor immediately. Do regular checkups on mammogram as prevention is always better.
