The Ethiopian Billionaire and the DC largest building

We have recently been hearing rumors that the Ethiopian billionaire was on preparation to build the largest building in the center of USA at DC. The same thing was also claimed by Washington post that mostly covered the story. This said billionaire is Mr. Eyob Jo Mamo, an Ethiopian descendant who isapparently raising awed questions with his company’s annual revenue. The company which is known as the capital petroleum company has an annual revenue of 778 Million dollars with a capital M which is no wonder it got people talking about it. He also happens to be the son of Mr. Mamo Kacha a landlord in Ethiopia in the previous days who was mainly known for having a bus before many. There is even a coffee place here i Addis named after him. Guess the money just runs in the bloodline.

The building that Mr. Eyob plans to build in DC is expected to be huge in terms of size and length. All thanks to Mr. Mamo Kacha, who are known to have a bus company in Addis Ababa, for sending their child to North Dakota boarding school long ago on 1981GC, when he was just a 13 years old boy in order to protect him from the Red terror and other obligations that fell on lads like him that mainly occurred during the Derg system which helped him live to see his dream through.

Mr. Eyob’s pride and joy the Capital Petroleum Company is said to have more than 400 gas stations around, Maryland, Virginia and DC. They also cover more than half of the stations in DC. What makes it even different is that they are their own gas supplier. There is also a mall around Tyson, a common place for most Ethiopian, which is said to be theirs. According to Business Journal the two Enterprises Tyson Mk LLC and Tyson MK 2 LLC are also under Mr. Eyob’s management. And now he is said to have filed a proposal to build a new place that aims to create three towers for mixed use which is estimated to cost around 44.25 million dollars. I mean can this guy get any richer? Probably. And he is only 44 years old. He was even recently expected to come to Ethiopia with the DC mayor which the passed due to this project. But they are expected to show up in the near future since most of their friends are pure Habeshas that are living here. After this project is done and we live to see the towers then we can finally say that the largest building in DC is the work of an Ethiopian.

This news is refreshing to us Ethiopians in different aspects one of them being it can shade some light into our track record related to immigration and working outside Ethiopia. Now we can see there are two sides that can happen. We can even gloat about it. I mean he went there when he was a little boy and now he is a man with endless vision and goal also working to make his country proud. Ethiopia is not just the bearer of poverty, violence and so many messed up things that are circulating out there. Nope, Ethiopia gives birth to one of a kind amazing business men like Mr. Eyob.

May we all take a step ahead in achieving our goals!
