What signs you may notice in your children related to the pandemic
A new health disorder is being reported in youths of below 21. The Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in children (MISC) had been assumed to have a relation with the current pandemic. Up until April 26, 2020, 102 cases had been reported. All except one recovered completely. The children were tested for Coronavirus and most were positive. The children that tested negative had their antibodies checked to reveal that they had contracted the virus but recovered. Even though there is not enough data to make conclusions, the inflammation could be potentially linked to the immune response of the children. The inflammation affects the coronary arteries which transport oxygen to the heart. Therefore, if the following symptoms occur in children, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
•High fever for more than a day or two. Body temperature rises above 100.4 degree Fahrenheit or 38 degree Celsius.
•Conjunctivitis or red eyes
•Stomach aches, diarrhea
• Lips become red and chapped
•Strawberry colored tongue
•Swollen and red hands and feet
•Restlessness and sleeplessness
A few of these symptoms may also be caused by sore throat or bacterial infections. Parents must know that this condition is very rare and only a small percentage show these symptoms. Do not be shocked but earlier treatment is always better.
